Rodman charged in domestic incident
LOS ANGELES — Former Bull Dennis Rodman has been charged with spousal abuse, brandishing a deadly weapon and trying to dissuade a witness in connection with a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend at a Century City hotel in April, the city attorney's office said Thursday.
"His girlfriend of four years sustained visible physical injuries," said Nick Velasquez, the city attorney's spokesman.
Rodman, 47, the one-time Los Angeles Laker, Detroit Piston and Bulls rebounder, must appear in court May 22 even though the three charges are misdemeanors because he is a defendant in a domestic violence case, Velasquez said.
The incident took place April 30 at the Intercontinental Hotel, where police arrested Rodman at about 10:15 p.m. Officers said Rodman hit a woman who sustained injuries to her arms.
